Laureate 0f 2010 Indianapolis, Sendai, Unisa, Oistrach and Paganini (Moscow) international competitions, the 25 year-old Russian Violinist is among the leading violinist of his generation.

Baranov’s interpretation of Tchaikovsky concerto has been hailed by Franken Post as ‚charmed with an instinct for tone color’‚resembalance to legendary Jascha Heifitz’, and the Strad Magazine article acclaimed Baranov as ‚a natural player who makes your listen....one is struck by his sound and his large music-making gestures.’

 Since making his major debut in 2005 at St Petersuburg Philharmonie hall under V Petrenko and the Philharmonic Orchestra, Baranov has since performed on world’s renowned stages such as Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Großer Saal Mozarteum, Circle Theater, Cadogan Hall London and Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow.

His recent and upcoming engagements include tours in Russia, South Africa, Turkey, France, Germany, USA and Asia.

 He has released 2 CDs in 2010, a recital program recording, as part of the prize given by Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in recognition of his achievement, as well as Tchaikovsky concerto recording with Hof Symphoniker conducted by Arn Goerke released in co-production with Bayerischer Rundfunk.

Many of Baranov’s performances have been broadcasted worldwide-on BR Klassik, Radio Orpheus, YLE Radio (Finland), WFYI (USA), NHK Sendai (Japan).

 Baranov has already appeared with leading international orchestras including St-Petersburg Pilharmonic, Sendai Philharmonic, Royal Phiharmonic London, Quindao Symphony, Krasnoyarsk Philharmonic under conductors Vasilly Petrenko, Mark Kadin, Volodimir Sirenko, Yrui Gilbo, Johannes Wildner,David Afkham and Kazumi Yamashita.

In 2008 Baranov was the 1st prize winner both in Benjamin Britten International Violin Competition in London and H. Mateau International Violin Competition in Germany. In addition, he won the ‚New Master on Tour’ prize from Holland Music Session and the Mozarteum prize for the best violinist in the summer academy and was featured in prestigious Salzburger Festspiele.

In 2009, at the age of only 23 Baranov was appointed position at Conservatoire de Lausanne as teaching assistant to Pierre Amoyal.

Baranov is also a leading members of Camerata de Lausanne. Together with Pierre Amoyal he frequently tours through different continents.

Born in St Petersburg in 1986 into a family of musicians, Baranov began playing the violin at age of five. He attended the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory, St Petersburg Conservatory and Consevatoire de Lausanne. He studied with V. Ovcharek, P. Popov and P. Amoyal and has taken masterclasses from Pauk, Kushnir Issakadze and Kashkashian among many others.

In July 2011 Mr Baranov was offered the violin, A. Poggi Ex Milstein (1947) by Yellow Angel Foundation in Japan. After the president of the foundation attended Mr Baranov's performance in Nagoya, the foundation kindly offered to loan this instrument in partnership with Nippon Violin.
