Florian Rohn, born in 1979 in Filderstadt – Germany, gets his first cello lesson at the tender age of five years. He begins his intensive musical education at the Belvedere College Weimar before he gains a study place at the Franz Liszt Hochschule Weimar for musically highly gifted students in the class of Prof. B. Böhme. He continues his studies with Prof. Johannes Goritzki at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf where he graduates as master scholar. During the following three years of his musical education in the class of Prof. Patrick Demenga at the Conservatoire de Lausanne in Switzerland, Florian participates in a number of master classes with outstanding figures such as Prof. Wolfgang Boettcher (former principal cellist of the Berliner Philharmoniker), Prof. Anner Bylsma and Prof. Colin Carr – to mention just a few. At the same time he gives numerous solo concerts and several chamber music performances with renowned artists and personalities such as Pierre Amoyal, Bruno Canino, François-René Duchable and Klara Würtz. He finishes his studies with the achievement of the soloist diploma with distinction as well as the Max Jost award for the best degree of the year.

Another significant step in Rohn’s musical career is the foundation of the Trio SONaare, which is being coached by the Guarneri Trio Prague, and the receipt of the master diploma in chamber music with distinction in 2009.

In the same period Florian plays an important role as principal cellist in the Kristiansand Symfoniorkester in Norway and the Camerata de Lausanne in Switzerland.

His engagements also include performances in Gstaad at the Menuhin Festival, the Bodensee Festival, Les Jardins Musicaux Neuchâtel and other international events where he performed valuable works such as Tchaikovsky’s Rokkoko-Variations, Brahms’s Double Concerto, Beethoven’s Triple Concerto and many more.

Since 2011 Florian holds the management of the concert agency «SONaare». He plans two annual concert serials with international artists and composers as well as different international festivals in Switzerland.

Florian Rohn is now in great demand as principal cellist and soloist in various renowned orchestras and festivals throughout Europe and South Africa. His next grand entrance will be his performance  in several concerts in Brazil in 2013.
